Russia's grain exports in 2016-2017 agricultural year up 1.7%

As of May 31, 2017, exports of grain crops in the current 2016-2017 agricultural year grew by 1.7% year-on-year to 33.248 million tonnes, the Ministry of Agriculture informed.

For the same period, 32,695 thousand tonnes of grain crops were exported from Russia.

Russia's grain exports are dominated by wheat; its export abroad grew by 8.3% year-on-year to 25,610 thousand tonnes. Besides, Russia increased export of corn by 4% to 4,701 thousand tonnes, export of barley reached 2,690 thousand tonnes.

According to preliminary data of Russia's Federal State Statistics Service, the agricultural enterprises, purchasing and processing companies (excluding small businesses) had 23.7 million tonnes of grain in stock as of May 1.
